The Role of Women in the Test and Measurement Sector

At amotech Africa, we have a team of technical sales engineers who are mainly men led by a woman. This is a first in the company and also unique in Africa. We also have two thirds of top management being women. Through this experiences the company has grown tremendously and the impact is evident not just in Kenya but across the six countries that Amotech Africa operates in.

Despite the progress that has been made, there is still a significant gender gap in the test and measurement sector. According to a survey by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), women make up only 11% of the engineering workforce in the sector. This suggests that there is still much work to be done to encourage more women to pursue careers in this field and to provide them with the support they need to succeed.

To address this gender gap, companies in the test and measurement sector are taking steps to promote diversity and inclusion. This includes initiatives to recruit and retain women in technical roles, as well as efforts to promote work-life balance and create a more supportive workplace culture.
